UPDATE, August 11<\/p>\n

Environment Canada has confirmed that a third tornado touched down in the Huntsville area on Friday. The tornado has been classified as an EF-1 with a maximum wind speed estimated at 160 km\/h and a path length of 4.2 kilometres and a maximum width of 250 metres. Touching down around 3:30 pm, this would have been the first of the three tornado touchdowns to occur in the Huntsville area that afternoon.<\/p>\n

UPDATE, August 7, 11:04 a.m.
\nEnvironment Canada confirmed that second EF-1 tornado touched down near Huntsville in the Lake of
\nBays area between 4:10 and 4:15 PM Friday with estimated wind speeds of 130 to 150 km\/h. The tornado touched down about 17 kilometres northeast of Huntsville. During the storm damage survey it appears
\nthe tornado tracked about nine kilometers near Pell Lake northeast to Dotty Lake. The width of the damage path is estimated to range from 100 to 150 metres. The tornado caused extensive tree damage as well as structural damage to cottages.<\/p>\n

Environment Canada (EC) said today it is investigating a second tornado in the Huntsville area.<\/p>\n

“It appears that a strong tornado may have touched down about 15 kilometres northeast of Huntsville near Hutcheson Road and Highway 8 [Limberlost Road],” EC said in a report released today. “Extensive tree damage is associated as well as some structural damage. Timing is estimated by radar at between 4:10 and 4:15 PM. The damage is still being surveyed and the strength has not yet been determined.”<\/p>\n

EC confirmed yesterday that an EF-1 tornado touched down on the south side of Huntsville at 3:52 PM Friday. The tornado tracked about one kilometre northeastward over land and then for another one to one and a half kilometres over Fairy Lake as a tornadic waterspout. Damage was reported to a number of homes and numerous trees were toppled. The width of its path is estimated to have ranged from 100 to 150 metres with wind strength of 130 to 150 km\/h.
