Friday, July 7<\/h4>\n

Through Tom’s Eyes<\/strong><\/p>\n

Huntsville artist Janine Marson spent a year completing 100 paintings<\/a><\/span> in honour of the 100th anniversary of the death of artist Tom Thomson, many in locations where he painted. The exhibit runs until the end of August in Partners Hall at the Algonquin Theatre.<\/p>\n

<\/broadstreet-zone><\/strong><\/div>\n

BIA Mural Festival<\/strong><\/a><\/span><\/p>\n

The annual BIA Mural Festival continues on the steps of Town Hall until July 16 (or sooner if the paintings are complete). Join local artist Gerry Lantaigne to add your strokes to a community mural that replicates a stamp featuring Tom Thomson’s painting April in Algonquin Park,<\/em> and will later hang on Huntsville’s post office.<\/em> Artists Marc Sorozan and Tim Webb are also creating their own murals for the Group of Seven Outdoor Gallery – watch their works take shape, too.<\/p>\n

Saturday, July 8<\/h4>\n

Rotary Dockfest<\/a><\/span> and Art Splash<\/strong><\/p>\n

The fun begins with a pancake breakfast at 8 a.m. in River Mill Park. Throughout the day watch for a Rotary BBQ, beer tent, arts and crafts for the kids, and live music. The parade of bathtubs makes its way down Main Street at 11 a.m. and the first of three heats of the bathtub derby begins at noon.<\/p>\n

Proceeds support Hospice Huntsville and Fairvern Nursing Home.<\/p>\n

No one seemed to mind the rain at the 2016 Dockfest. The forecast for this year is all sun.<\/p><\/div>\n

Watch for temporary road closures for the parade. Caroline Street from Centre Street to Lorne Street, and Lorne Street from Caroline Street to Main Street are both closed on July 8 from 10-11:30 a.m. King Street from Main Street to Dara Howell Way will be closed from 11-11:30 a.m. Algonquin Outfitters Laneway from Main Street to Dara Howell Way will be closed on July 8 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.<\/p>\n

The River Mill Park parking lot will be closed from July 7 at 4 p.m. to July 8 at 4 p.m.<\/p>\n

The Limberlost Challenge<\/strong><\/a><\/span><\/p>\n

This event is almost sold out, but if running is your thing and you haven’t signed up yet, check out details at the link above. The 14km, 28km and 56km routes on wilderness trails at the Limberlost Forest and Wildlife Reserve<\/a><\/span> will test your foot skills and endurance. The Limberlost Challenge supports the work of Trails Youth Initiative www.trails.ca<\/span>.<\/a><\/p>\n

Lake of Bays Association Annual and Special Meeting<\/strong><\/a><\/span><\/p>\n

Sunday, July 9<\/h4>\n

The Subaru IRONMAN 70.3 Muskoka<\/strong><\/a><\/span><\/p>\n

Cheer on the athletes as they make their way through Huntsville and Lake of Bays. The triathlon has moved to a new location for 2017, with the transition zone at the Canada Summit Centre. The new course features a 1.2-mile, one-loop swim in Fairy Lake, a 56-mile bike course that circles Lake of Bays, passing through Dwight, Dorset, and Baysville, and a 13.1-mile run will through downtown Huntsville.<\/p>\n

\"Ironman

Runners cross the swing bridge in the 2016 Subaru Ironman Muskoka 70.3. The event will be hosted in downtown Huntsville for 2017.<\/p><\/div>\n

There will be temporary and partial road closures for the race, including Main Street\/King William Street from Chaffey Street to Centre Street and Brunel Road from Park Drive to Townline Road, both of which will be closed from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Also watch for runners and cyclists on other downtown Huntsville roads and around Lake of Bays. Huntsville Public Library Author Event: Books and Brunch<\/strong><\/a><\/span><\/p>\n

Join HPL Author Events to connect with authors as they share their experiences and stories while enjoying the delicious treats of local restaurants. The first event, Books & Brunch features national bestselling authors Kate Hilton and Jennifer Robson, who will discuss their latest works as well as their writing process. All this while enjoying a delicious brunch at 3 Guys and a Stove. Only 50 tickets are available and must be purchased in advance at the library or call 705-789-5232.<\/p>\n

Original Tom Thomson paintings return to Algonquin Park<\/strong><\/a><\/span><\/p>\n

To mark the centenary year of painter Tom Thomson\u2019s last spring in Algonquin Park, the Algonquin Art Centre will be displaying original Tom Thomson paintings as part of their 2017 art exhibit, \u201cLegacy\u201d. The paintings, \u201cNorthern Lake\u201d and \u201cView from a Height, Algonquin Park\u201d, both on loan from private collections, will be on exhibit from July 9 until July 16.<\/p>\n

Etwell Concert Series – SoulStack<\/strong><\/p>\n

Every Sunday throughout the summer, the Spring family hosts live blues concerts at their home. Chairs and benches are provided and all shows are rain or shine. An open pavilion provides shelter from the elements. Admission is a suggested $20 donation per person with proceeds going to the artists. Donations can be made on site.
