From left, Ross Fisher and Brandon Hall, both public works staff members, Wynne and Huntsville Director of Operations and Protective Services Stephen Hernen.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Premier Kathleen Wynne made a funding announcement Friday, May 26, at the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.google.ca\/maps\/search\/stephenson+road+1+bridge\/@45.1592011,-79.3185639,14z\/data=!3m1!4b1\">Stephenson Road 1 Bridge<\/a>. She said the province will be picking up 90 per cent of the bridge replacement cost, shared by the towns of Huntsville and Bracebridge.<\/p>\n<div style=\"float: left; margin-right: 14px;\"><strong><broadstreet-zone zone-id=\"45658\" keywords=\"\" soft-keywords=\"true\" zone-alias=\"\"><\/broadstreet-zone><\/strong><\/div>\n<p>The province will be kicking in up to an estimated $1.76 million to help pay for the joint project under the Ontario Community Infrastructure Fund.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe new bridge now has the structural integrity to allow unrestricted use by heavy winter service vehicles, emergency response vehicles and the general public. It will help ease the flow of traffic and increase road safety, creating a better quality of life and more economic opportunities for local families and businesses,\u201d according to a media release issued by the province.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cImproving local infrastructure in Bracebridge and Huntsville is part of our plan to create jobs, grow our economy and help people in their everyday lives,\u201d states the release, adding \u201cBracebridge and Huntsville are among the 426 communities that will receive increased support from the province this year through the Ontario Community Infrastructure Fund (OCIF) to build and upgrade local infrastructure.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Funding for infrastructure includes hospitals, schools, public transit, roads and bridges.
