Pipe Man, the floating art installation in the Muskoka River beside the Town Docks, has been a contentious addition to Huntsville’s public art collection since it was installed in November 2016.<\/p>\n
It was donated by local businessman, Jan Nyquist, in honour of Pipefusion’s 35th anniversary, and designed by artist Beverly Hawksley. Two sides of the sculpture depict a stylized image of painter Tom Thomson and waves representing Pipefusion’s 35 years in business. At night, it is lit from within.<\/p>\n
Town staff will be conducting a survey to collect public input about Pipe Man, with the results to be presented to Council in September 2017.<\/p>\n
