So many important voices lost! Fortunately their legacy stays with us.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Best of 2016<\/strong> &#8211;  Gord Downie&#8217;s amazing goodbye to us, and using his remaining time to advocate. An amazing example.<\/p>\n<p><strong>What would you change?<\/strong> Well, certainly I worry about Canada&#8217;s wealth and health after the first full year of Mr. Trudeau as PM. I wish he hadn&#8217;t imposed more taxes on small businesses and individuals, and would not waste billions with no discernible positive impact. And clearly his plans to reform the electoral system are an embarrassing bust.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Hopes for 2017?<\/strong> Canada&#8217;s 150th anniversary, I would like to see improvement for ordinary people. Better job prospects, an ability to pay their energy bills without having to worry about groceries, and better futures for our young people. You only have one mother, and when she is gone it leaves a void.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div><strong>Best of 2016<\/strong> &#8211; The best was having our oldest daughter Abigale and family (husband Mike and granddaughters Beatrice and Noelle) return to live in Ontario after living in China the past five years. Beatrice and Noelle are 3 and 1, so it is great to be able to see them other than on Skype!<\/div>\n<div><strong>What would you change?<\/strong>  I would have better maintained winter road conditions; more affordable electricity bills; and sustainable hospitals\/health system. All things we did not have the past year.<\/div>\n<div><strong>Hopes for 2017?<\/strong>  I hope for a happy, healthy and prosperous 2017 for family, friends and the people of Parry Sound-Muskoka, where your goals are fulfilled and you are able to enjoy life.
