After an undefeated season, the Huntsville Hoyas Junior Boys Volleyball team took their winning streak all the way to the Muskoka Parry Sound championships on November 9.<\/p>\n

In the semi-finals, the Hoyas defeated Gravenhurst High in three straight sets. Up against the BMLSS Lakers in the finals, the team was down two sets to one before coming back to tie it up in the fourth. In the tie-breaking fifth set, which is played to 15 points instead of the usual 25, the Hoyas came away with a solid 15-7 win over the Lakers.<\/p>\n

Jack Solecki, a grade 10 student who plays middle, said the team worked hard all season to earn their win.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe practiced four times a week after school,\u201d said Solecki. \u201cMr. Spiers gave up a lot of time to coach us. A lot of us were new to the team but we hadn\u2019t lost a game the whole season. We felt good going into (the finals).\u201d<\/p>\n

In an early-season tournament, the Hoyas got a taste of the teams they\u2019ll be up against at the GBSSA championships on Tuesday, November 15 in Angus. \u201cThey\u2019re from bigger towns and they\u2019re usually better,\u201d said Solecki. \u201cWe weren\u2019t as good then as we are now so we\u2019re hoping to go pretty far.\u201d<\/p>\n
