{"id":225287,"date":"2026-06-14T19:06:41","date_gmt":"2026-06-14T23:06:41","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/doppleronline.ca\/huntsville\/?p=225287"},"modified":"2026-06-14T19:06:42","modified_gmt":"2026-06-14T23:06:42","slug":"george-anderson-announces-hell-be-seeking-re-election-in-lake-of-bays","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/doppleronline.ca\/huntsville\/george-anderson-announces-hell-be-seeking-re-election-in-lake-of-bays\/","title":{"rendered":"George Anderson announces he&#8217;ll be seeking re-election in Lake of Bays"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Lake of Bays Councillor George Anderson is seeking re-election, citing a deep connection to the community, a commitment to environmental protection, and a desire to provide continuity on council.<\/p>\n\n\n<div style=\"float: left; margin-right: 14px;\"><strong><broadstreet-zone zone-id=\"45658\" keywords=\"\" soft-keywords=\"true\" zone-alias=\"\"><\/broadstreet-zone><\/strong><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Representing Ridout Ward for nearly two terms, the councillor said family roots in the area stretch back more than 90 years, fostering a lifelong appreciation for the township and its residents.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI grew up loving the area and the people,\u201d the councillor said, noting that the community has remained an important part of family life through multiple generations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Before entering municipal politics, the councillor spent 32 years working in outdoor education with the former Muskoka Board of Education and later the Trillium Lakelands District School Board, retiring in 2013.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He said that his background has helped him shape a strong focus on environmental sustainability and stewardship, which remains a central priority.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe care of the natural world has always been a guiding principle in my life,\u201d said Anderson. \u201cMaintaining a healthy environment will ensure a sound economy and resilient future for the people of Lake of Bays.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Among the key issues identified for the next term are environmental protection and lake health, including continued support for the township\u2019s septic inspection program.
