The Town of Huntsville is kicking off Bike Month with two fun-filled, family-friendly events on Thursday, May 28. In partnership with The SportLab, Huntsville Mountain Bike Association, TriMuskoka, Kiwanis Club of Huntsville Muskoka, the O.P.P, the Muskoka Bicycle Pro Shop, Algonquin Outfitters, the Rotary Club of North Muskoka, and other local organizations, the Town is pleased to bring the community together for the Mayor\u2019s Bike Ride and Rodeo. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

These two popular events are\u00a0designed\u00a0to engage cyclists of all ages and skill levels\u00a0and\u00a0promote\u00a0cycling, bike safety, active living, and physical activity while fostering a healthier, more connected community.\u00a0Cycling has so many benefits;\u00a0from\u00a0boosting your mental and physical\u00a0health\u00a0to\u00a0helping reduce chronic health issues and promoting sustainable, eco-friendly transportation.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n

Kids\u2019\u00a0Bike Rodeo:\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong>
Register to\u00a0choose a\u00a0timeslot and ride through a series of bike challenges that test\u00a0your ability to brake, turn and maneuver safely on the road.\u00a0A bike and helmet check\u00a0are\u00a0part of each ride!\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ages:<\/strong> 4 – 9 years old 
Time:<\/strong> 4:30 p.m. \u2013 6:30 p.m. (last entry at 6:00 p.m.)
Location:<\/strong> Jack Bionda Arena Pad, Canada Summit Centre – please enter the building via the front entrance 

The Kids\u2019 Bike Rodeo is free of charge; however, advanced registration is required at <\/strong>huntsville.ca<\/a>. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mayor\u2019s Bike Ride:<\/strong> <\/strong>
Join Mayor Alcock and members of the Huntsville Mountain Bike Association, Tri-Muskoka Triathlon Club, and The SportLab, on a group ride through town and experience for yourself the benefits of active transportation.    <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ages:<\/strong> All ages welcome – participants under 18 years old must be accompanied by an adult 
Time:<\/strong> 6:30 p.m. \u2013 8:00 p.m. (arrive at 6:30 p.m., ride departs at 7:00 p.m.) 
Location:<\/strong> Canada Summit Centre \u2013 departing from the front of the building  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

This ride is a \u201cshare the road\u201d initiative aimed at promoting active transportation in our community. Cyclists are required to wear a bike helmet and obey the rules of the road. 

GEAR UP FOR KIDS: Supporting the Next Generation of Cyclists<\/strong> <\/strong>
The Town of Huntsville is pleased to be working with the Children’s Foundation of Muskoka to help get more bikes into the hands of local youth through our Gear Up for Kids Program.   <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Program was launched by Mayor Nancy Alcock to bring residents, businesses, and organizations together in support of bikes to local youth. The initiative reflects her belief that a community-focused approach to active transportation is key to building a vibrant and inclusive Huntsville.    <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cActive transportation provides children with more than just a way to get around; it creates opportunities for exploration, independence, and lifelong healthy habits,\u201d says Mayor Alcock. \u201cProviding bikes and gear to local children helps remove barriers, empowers them to move freely, and contributes to building a stronger, more connected community for the future.\u201d  <\/p>\n\n\n\n
