It is part of the&nbsp;District\u2019s&nbsp;updated Muskoka Water Strategy and responds to public feedback asking for more support for local watershed work.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>WRAP is meant to help groups plan projects,&nbsp;take action&nbsp;and build local knowledge to protect lakes and watersheds.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cPeople in Muskoka care deeply about the health of their lakes,\u201d said Rebecca Willison, Environmental Planning,&nbsp;Policy&nbsp;and Program Coordinator. \u201cWRAP will help local groups turn ideas into action and support projects that make a real difference.\u201d&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Two funding streams&nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Stream 1: Planning is open to organized lake and community groups on all waterbodies in Muskoka. Funding is available for projects such as:&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>creating or updating a lake plan&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>developing a stewardship action plan&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>starting a citizen science or community stewardship program&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>improving communications and engagement with waterbody residents&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>organizing a stewardship event&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Funding under Stream 1 ranges from $1,000 to $10,000, depending on the type of project.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Stream 2: Implementation is for organized stewardship groups working on lakes listed&nbsp;in Schedule E2 of the Muskoka Official Plan. This stream supports action and research projects that protect or improve water quality.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Examples include:&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>restoring habitat or shorelines&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>managing invasive species&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>reducing pollution&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>improving stormwater management&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>expanding community monitoring programs&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>researching the effectiveness of stewardship activities&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Stream 2 provides funding for up to 50 per cent of total project costs, to a maximum of $20,000. Matching funds are&nbsp;required.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Who can apply&nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Applicants must be an organized lake stewardship group recognized by the District of Muskoka and based in Muskoka.
