{"id":221082,"date":"2026-04-29T13:36:07","date_gmt":"2026-04-29T17:36:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/doppleronline.ca\/huntsville\/?p=221082"},"modified":"2026-04-29T16:24:19","modified_gmt":"2026-04-29T20:24:19","slug":"mnr-extend-flood-warning-to-may-6","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/doppleronline.ca\/huntsville\/mnr-extend-flood-warning-to-may-6\/","title":{"rendered":"MNR extends Flood Warning to May 6"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The Ministry of Natural Resources \u2013 Bracebridge-Minden-Parry Sound District is advising area residents and visitors that a Flood Warning is in effect in the district <strong>until Wednesday,\u00a0May 06, 2026<\/strong>.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n<div style=\"float: left; margin-right: 14px;\"><strong><broadstreet-zone zone-id=\"45658\" keywords=\"\" soft-keywords=\"true\" zone-alias=\"\"><\/broadstreet-zone><\/strong><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>This message applies district\u2011wide across the MNR Bracebridge\u2013Minden\u2013Parry Sound\u00a0 District, including portions of the District of Parry Sound, District of Muskoka, and County of\u00a0 Haliburton. All watersheds within the district are affected, including the Severn, Boyne,\u00a0 Black, French, Gull, Pickerel, Seguin, South, Magnetawan, and Muskoka River watersheds.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The locations of greatest concern at this time, due to ongoing high water impacts, include: <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022 Lake Muskoka\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022 Lake Rosseau &amp; Lake Joseph&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022 Moon River including Bala Reach&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022 Gull River watershed, including the community of Minden\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022 French River &amp; Pickerel River&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Several areas are experiencing elevated water levels and flows. In some locations, levels are comparable to those observed in 2019 and may result in localized infrastructure impacts and flooding.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Residents and visitors should anticipate lake and river water levels to continue stabilizing over the next week, with decreases possible in some locations.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Municipalities hold primary responsibility for emergency response to flood events, including&nbsp; protecting residents and property, undertaking first response actions, and coordinating&nbsp; recovery.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Go to https:\/\/www.ontario.ca\/page\/floods and your local municipality for more information.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Residents who have been affected by high water and flow conditions in the past should continue to take necessary action to protect or secure any vulnerable property in proximity to rivers and lakes and closely monitor developing conditions.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Lower-lying portions of known flood-prone areas may be impacted to varying degrees.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>MNR also advises extreme caution when using forest access roads for outdoor activities, as many are seasonally inundated with water and prone to washouts. These roads may be impassable.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Slippery stream banks and fast-flowing, cold water will create hazardous conditions around all water bodies.
