{"id":220033,"date":"2026-04-20T08:30:00","date_gmt":"2026-04-20T12:30:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/doppleronline.ca\/huntsville\/?p=220033"},"modified":"2026-04-21T07:31:58","modified_gmt":"2026-04-21T11:31:58","slug":"earth-day-compost-giveaway-returns-to-lake-of-bays","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/doppleronline.ca\/huntsville\/earth-day-compost-giveaway-returns-to-lake-of-bays\/","title":{"rendered":"Earth Day compost giveaway returns to Lake of Bays"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>This Earth Day, the Township of Lake of Bays is inviting residents to give their gardens a healthy start while reducing waste through the Annual Compost Giveaway.<\/p>\n\n\n<div style=\"float: left; margin-right: 14px;\"><strong><broadstreet-zone zone-id=\"45658\" keywords=\"\" soft-keywords=\"true\" zone-alias=\"\"><\/broadstreet-zone><\/strong><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>On&nbsp;<strong>Wednesday, April 22, 2026<\/strong>, beginning at&nbsp;<strong>10:00 a.m.<\/strong>, free, high-quality compost will be available at four convenient locations across the municipality:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Lake of Bays Community Centre Arena, Baysville (<strong>10 University St<\/strong>)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Dorset Seniors Centre (<strong>5025 Muskoka Road 117<\/strong>)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Interlaken Old Firehall (<strong>2309 Limberlost Rd)<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Dwight Branch Public Library (<strong>1014 Dwight Beach Rd<\/strong>)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Please note that construction is underway at the Dwight Library. The exact compost pile location on this property may be different from that in previous years.<br><br>In partnership with the District Municipality of Muskoka, this compost is produced locally from green bin organics, helping divert food and organic waste from landfills. By participating in the giveaway, residents are helping close the loop by returning nutrients back into local soil.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Compost will be available while supplies last and is offered on a first-come, first-served basis.
