The Huntsville Otters picked up a pair of wins on the weekend and also signed three new players. They now find themselves solidly in third place in the North division of the Provincial Junior Hockey league.<\/p>\n

<\/broadstreet-zone><\/strong><\/div>\n

Defencemen Walker Veitch and Matt Mercer and a forward named Myles York, who played with the Otters last year, joined the team in time for last Friday night\u2019s game in Midland against the Flyers.<\/p>\n

The Otters won that game 3-2, thanks in large part to the goaltending of Connor Christanson who had to deal with 39 shots.<\/p>\n

Huntsville goals were scored by Jesse Houlton in the first period, Jack Armstrong in the second and the game winner in the third period was by Everette Nudd.<\/p>\n

The win leaves Huntsville in third place, four points up on Midland with a pair of games in hand.<\/p>\n

Coach Rocky Clarke said the victory did not come easily.<\/p>\n

With the new guys in the line-up, it seemed to take us a bit of time to get used to them and vice versa. We did not play a good game and were fortunate to come away with the win. Connor Christanson played very well in goal and kept us in the game until we got the go ahead goal late in the game.

Sunday night\u2019s game in Caledon was a different story. The Otters shut out the Golden Hawks 3-0 with Christanson stopping 31 shots.<\/p>\n

Jack Armstrong led the way with a pair of goals after Joel Fedeski opened the scoring in the first period.<\/p>\n

\u201cOur game in Caledon was much better,\u201d said Clarke. \u201cWe started to play more of a \u2018team\u2019 game, and we made a lot more \u2018smart things\u2019 right tonight which in turn lead to more scoring chances.\u201d<\/p>\n

The shutout was Christanson\u2019s first this year.<\/p>\n

The Otters trail second place Stayner by four points and are eight points behind first place Alliston.<\/p>\n

\"Jr<\/p>\n

Alliston will be at the Don Lough arena Friday night to play the Otters. In their first meeting this year, Huntsville was short several players and were shut out 9-0.<\/p>\n

\u201cAlliston has a very good team,\u201d admitted Clarke, \u201cbut I am looking for a very determined effort from our guys this time out. I want them to be ready to play for 60 minutes and if they play the way they are capable, you just never know what might happen.\u201d<\/p>\n
