Community members, land users, and local professionals are often the first to notice shifts in water levels, habitat conditions, and wildlife activity. These observations are valuable. They help inform a clearer understanding of landscape health and support practical, locally relevant solutions. Those who work with and live closest to the land observe the changes, yet often this lived experience is not reflected in broader environmental decision-making. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
This spring, The Land Between, together with Indigenous partners, is hosting a series of focused ‘Talking Circles’ designed to bring people together to share insights and uncover trends through community knowledge.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Talking Circles are a long-standing tradition that fosters respectful listening, constructive dialogue, and cooperative learning. These gatherings are not debates or political forums. They provide a structured, welcoming space where participants can exchange observations and contribute to a broader understanding of regional ecological trends. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Insights gathered through the Circles will help guide ongoing research, stewardship priorities, and community-based responses to emerging environmental challenges. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
For those who prefer to attend informally, an open house poster session will run alongside the Circles, featuring accessible summaries of The Land Between\u2019s work on fish and wildlife, lakes, forests, and Species at Risk. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Culminating this 4-event series, the Bracebridge Talking Circle will be held on Tuesday, April 29, 2026, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Bracebridge Centre for Active Living.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The event is free to attend and open to all who have a relationship with the land, including farmers, hunters, anglers, gardeners, hikers, naturalists, and residents alike.
