{"id":217780,"date":"2026-03-25T17:22:00","date_gmt":"2026-03-25T21:22:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/doppleronline.ca\/huntsville\/?p=217780"},"modified":"2026-03-26T07:46:27","modified_gmt":"2026-03-26T11:46:27","slug":"non-urgent-wait-times-for-mri-in-huntsville-about-six-to-seven-months","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/doppleronline.ca\/huntsville\/non-urgent-wait-times-for-mri-in-huntsville-about-six-to-seven-months\/","title":{"rendered":"Non-urgent wait times for MRI in Huntsville about six to seven months"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The MRI suite at Huntsville District Memorial Hospital officially opened on July 7, 2025, but some residents are still having to travel out of town for the service.<\/p>\n\n\n<div style=\"float: left; margin-right: 14px;\"><strong><broadstreet-zone zone-id=\"45658\" keywords=\"\" soft-keywords=\"true\" zone-alias=\"\"><\/broadstreet-zone><\/strong><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;Some patients are currently travelling outside the region for MRI services due to demand exceeding our current capacity and the scope of services we offer,&#8221; stated Muskoka Algonquin Healthcare (MAHC) spokesperson Bobbie Clark.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>She said the MRI scanner is currently funded to operate\u00a0eight hours a day, Monday to Friday (excluding holidays), which translates to about 12\u201314 scans daily, but MAHC is actively working to expand access. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;High demand, and some reduced capacity at some other regional MRI sites,\u00a0has led to a wait time of approximately 6\u20137 months for non-urgent cases.\u00a0Patients can\u00a0choose to seek care elsewhere if they are able to access an earlier appointment. However, all urgent priority cases are performed within provincial standards,&#8221; she added via email correspondence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Those provincial standards are classified according to the seriousness or time sensitivity of the suspected condition.
