Marie, Ontario, after a courageous battle with cancer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Born in Bracebridge, Ontario, Cathy was the daughter of the late Lloyd and Verna (Amey) Hawn.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Cathy devoted much of her career to helping others through her work at the Algoma Substance Abuse Rehabilitation Centre. Her work meant a great deal to her, and she was deeply committed to giving back to her community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>She was also a talented and creative artist when it came to crafting. Family and friends were often the recipients of her thoughtful, handmade gifts\u2014each one personal and created with love.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Cathy will be lovingly remembered by her daughter, Natalie Palewicz; her sister Margaret \u201cPeggy\u201d Carol (Hawn) Jewiss and brother-in-law Ross Jewiss; and her nieces and nephew: Amy (Jewiss) Pfrimmer and her children Marcus and Maria; Benjamin Jewiss and his spouse Melanie and their children Henry and Duncan; and Beth (Jewiss) Kutcha and her spouse Benjamin and their children Everett and Rex. She will also be fondly remembered by extended family members and friends.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The family would like to extend their sincere gratitude to the staff at ARCH Hospice for the compassionate care provided during Cathy\u2019s final days.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A celebration of Cathy\u2019s life will be held at a later date in Sault Ste. Marie and Bracebridge, Ontario.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In lieu of flowers, donations in Cathy\u2019s memory may be made to ARCH Hospice.
