{"id":216090,"date":"2026-02-25T18:14:54","date_gmt":"2026-02-25T23:14:54","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/doppleronline.ca\/huntsville\/?p=216090"},"modified":"2026-02-25T20:23:28","modified_gmt":"2026-02-26T01:23:28","slug":"huntsville-youth-charged-for-uttering-threats-in-school","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/doppleronline.ca\/huntsville\/huntsville-youth-charged-for-uttering-threats-in-school\/","title":{"rendered":"Huntsville OPP charge youth for uttering threat in school"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The Huntsville Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police is investigating after a threat was made at the local high school.<\/p>\n\n\n<div style=\"float: left; margin-right: 14px;\"><strong><broadstreet-zone zone-id=\"45658\" keywords=\"\" soft-keywords=\"true\" zone-alias=\"\"><\/broadstreet-zone><\/strong><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>On February 19, 2026, officers from the Huntsville OPP were made aware that a student had made a comment to several peers about wanting to cause harm.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In partnership with the Trillium Lakelands District School Board and the school, the OPP participated in an assessment of the student, their comments, and any potential risk.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As a result of the investigation, a 14-year-old student, who cannot be named due to the provisions under the Youth Criminal Justice Act (YCJA), has been arrested and charged with uttering a threat.&nbsp;The youth will appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Bracebridge, Ontario, at a future date.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It is important to note that this is an isolated incident and there is no concern for public safety.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Huntsville OPP would like to thank those members of the public who brought this information to the attention of the school.&nbsp;We all have a role to play in keeping our community safe.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Huntsville OPP is committed to serving our province.&nbsp;If you have any information about crime in our community, please contact the OPP at 1-888-310-1122.
