{"id":214009,"date":"2026-01-19T10:39:38","date_gmt":"2026-01-19T15:39:38","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/doppleronline.ca\/huntsville\/?p=214009"},"modified":"2026-01-19T10:39:40","modified_gmt":"2026-01-19T15:39:40","slug":"you-may-get-a-call-from-public-health","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/doppleronline.ca\/huntsville\/you-may-get-a-call-from-public-health\/","title":{"rendered":"You may get a call from public health"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit (SMDHU) is committed to maintaining up\u2011to\u2011date, reliable information about the communities it serves. <\/p>\n\n\n<div style=\"float: left; margin-right: 14px;\"><strong><broadstreet-zone zone-id=\"45658\" keywords=\"\" soft-keywords=\"true\" zone-alias=\"\"><\/broadstreet-zone><\/strong><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>As part of this effort, residents in Simcoe Muskoka may receive a phone call inviting them to participate in an important telephone survey called the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.rrfss.ca\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Rapid Risk Factor Surveillance System<\/a>\u00a0(RRFSS).\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>RRFSS is an ongoing survey of adults aged 18 and older living in Ontario regions with a participating health unit. In Simcoe Muskoka, the survey is conducted by the Institute for Social Research at York University on behalf SMDHU to gather information about health behaviours, knowledge, attitudes, and awareness on topics such as tobacco, alcohol, and cannabis use, vaccinations, climate change, food insecurity, and other important public health issues.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Your participation is voluntary and plays a meaningful role. The survey takes about 10 minutes, and the interviewer can call back at a time that works for you. The information collected helps the health unit plan and improve public health programs, supports disease prevention and promotes health initiatives. By taking part, you contribute directly to programs and services that support the well\u2011being of your community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Your privacy is protected. Phone numbers (landlines and cell phones) are randomly chosen, and no personally identifying information, such as your name, phone number or address is collected. The interviewer will never ask you for your health card number or for money, credit card, banking or social insurance information. The answers you provide are shared with your local public health unit without any personal details and are reviewed only as part of a larger group, so nothing published will ever identify you.
