{"id":210087,"date":"2025-10-31T10:00:00","date_gmt":"2025-10-31T14:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/doppleronline.ca\/huntsville\/?p=210087"},"modified":"2025-10-31T13:37:19","modified_gmt":"2025-10-31T17:37:19","slug":"hoyas-fall-short-of-ofsaa","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/doppleronline.ca\/huntsville\/hoyas-fall-short-of-ofsaa\/","title":{"rendered":"Hoyas fall short of OFSAA"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>It was a dreary, wet, and cool day at Conroy Park in Huntsville for the Georgian Bay Secondary School Association (GBSSA) boys\u2019 AA soccer finals on October 30.<\/p>\n\n\n<div style=\"float: left; margin-right: 14px;\"><strong><broadstreet-zone zone-id=\"45658\" keywords=\"\" soft-keywords=\"true\" zone-alias=\"\"><\/broadstreet-zone><\/strong><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>However, the play on the field in the two semi-finals and championship match was anything but dreary.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In the first semi-final, the Huntsville Hoyas came out of the gate with great determination and found themselves with a quick 4-0 lead midway through the first half of the game. The lead would continue to grow as the host team booked their spot in the final with an 8-1 thrashing of Innisdale SS from Barrie.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The second semi-final saw the Bracebridge Muskoka Lakes Lakers in tough against St. Theresa Catholic from Midland. Despite a spirited effort, the Lakers fell 2-0 to St. Theresa.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The final was a chippy affair with both teams setting a physical tone early on. While the first half was a relatively balanced match for both teams, St. Theresa went ahead 1-0 on a long ball pass that their striker finished with a strong shot.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A second goal for the visitors came about from an unfortunate play where the Hoyas goalie handling a pass back from his defender, resulting in a free-kick inside the 18-yard box.
