MEDIA RELEASE <\/em><\/p>\n

The North Simcoe Muskoka Local Health Integration Network (NSM LHIN) Board of Directors today announced the appointment of Dr. Adalsteinn Brown as the special advisor who will co-chair the Muskoka and Area Health System Transformation (MAHST) Council.<\/p>\n

Dr. Brown, in his role as Special Advisor and Co-Chair, will provide experience and knowledge that will assist in advancing integration efforts between the partners involved in the MAHST project. Dr. Brown is a strong proponent for equitable access to care that matches the individual\u2019s needs. His considerable experience within the Ontario health care system will assist the Council in developing a Health System Model for Muskoka that incorporates equitable access as a key component of the final design.<\/p>\n

Dr. Brown is the Director of the Institute for Health Policy, Management and Evaluation at the University of Toronto and the Dalla Lana Chair of Public Health Policy at the University. Past roles include Assistant Deputy Minister for Strategy at the Ontario Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care and for Science and Research at the Ontario Ministry of Research and Innovation. He advises governments and corporations on information use and performance measurement. He received his undergraduate degree in government from Harvard University and his doctorate from the University of Oxford, where he was a Rhodes Scholar. He has received several leadership awards including being named one of Canada’s “Top 40 Under 40” in recognition for his work on performance measurement.<\/p>\n
