{"id":193803,"date":"2025-07-17T15:11:43","date_gmt":"2025-07-17T19:11:43","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/doppleronline.ca\/huntsville\/?p=193803"},"modified":"2025-07-17T15:11:45","modified_gmt":"2025-07-17T19:11:45","slug":"mnr-issues-watershed-conditions-statement-flood-outlook-effective-until-july-22","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/doppleronline.ca\/huntsville\/mnr-issues-watershed-conditions-statement-flood-outlook-effective-until-july-22\/","title":{"rendered":"MNR issues Watershed Conditions Statement &#8211; Flood Outlook, effective until July 22"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><em>From the MNR<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Ministry of Natural Resources is advising area residents that a Watershed Conditions Statement &#8211; Flood Outlook is in effect in the District until Tuesday, July 22, 2025.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n<div style=\"float: left; margin-right: 14px;\"><strong><broadstreet-zone zone-id=\"45658\" keywords=\"\" soft-keywords=\"true\" zone-alias=\"\"><\/broadstreet-zone><\/strong><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>This message is intended for residents and visitors within the MNR Bracebridge Minden\u00a0 Parry Sound District for portions of the District of Parry Sound and the District of Nipissing,\u00a0within the South River, Magnetawan River, and Seguin River watersheds.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Unseasonably high-water levels and river flows occurred due to the July 6-7 rainfall. Water&nbsp; levels and flows are expected to gradually decrease as the water continues to move through the watersheds.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The watersheds are complex cascading systems: water inputs received upstream must\u00a0 travel down through the watershed before exiting the system and permitting water levels to\u00a0 return to normal levels. This means that water levels and river flows for locations near the bottom of the watersheds can remain elevated for longer periods of time while the additional water works its way through system.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Significant rainfall was received across the area from July 6-7. This rainfall caused water&nbsp; levels and river flows to increase higher than normal for this time of year. This water is still&nbsp; moving through the watersheds.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Residents and visitors are advised to be aware of current watershed conditions and should&nbsp; exercise caution around waterbodies and maintain close supervision of children and pets.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Individuals who have experienced high water or flow conditions in the past should take&nbsp; necessary actions to protect\/secure any vulnerable property near rivers and lakes Residents and visitors are advised to monitor developing conditions and regularly check for&nbsp; updated messaging.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Low-lying and flood-prone areas may experience localized impacts to varying degrees as&nbsp; water levels and river flows increase in response to the received precipitation.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>MNR also advises extreme caution when using forest access roads for outdoor activities as&nbsp; they may become seasonally inundated with water, are prone to washouts and may&nbsp; become impassible due to localized flooding.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Ministry is actively monitoring the weather and evolving watershed conditions.
