{"id":192060,"date":"2025-06-09T17:08:26","date_gmt":"2025-06-09T21:08:26","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/doppleronline.ca\/huntsville\/?p=192060"},"modified":"2025-06-10T09:19:27","modified_gmt":"2025-06-10T13:19:27","slug":"major-work-planned-for-south-waseosa-lake-road-to-begin-june-16","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/doppleronline.ca\/huntsville\/major-work-planned-for-south-waseosa-lake-road-to-begin-june-16\/","title":{"rendered":"Major work planned for South Waseosa Lake Road to begin June 16"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Residents on South Waseosa Lake Road will have to pack their patience for about another two months this summer.<\/p>\n\n\n<div style=\"float: left; margin-right: 14px;\"><strong><broadstreet-zone zone-id=\"45658\" keywords=\"\" soft-keywords=\"true\" zone-alias=\"\"><\/broadstreet-zone><\/strong><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>At the May 28 General Committee meeting, Director of Operations for the Town of Huntsville, Randy Bissonette, gave councillors a rundown of what&#8217;s being planned.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He said the road will be pulverized, and three inches of granular A gravel will be placed on the top. Then 3.5 litres of calcium chloride per square metre of road will be added. &#8220;Then we put the pulverizer through it again, so that&#8217;s called base stabilization, so we&#8217;re stabilizing the base,&#8221; Bissonette told councillors, adding that the material will all be graded and packed afterward. &#8220;The final thing is we put a fog coat on top of the graded road which pulls the calcium chloride&#8230; up to the top so it will be like a hard surface and that should hold until the surface treatment gets done, which should be about three weeks after that process,&#8221; he said, referring to the high float the road will end up with.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The work will be done as part of a District contract in order to get better pricing, explained Bissonette.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The signs are up, and the work is expected to begin on Monday, June 16.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In the spring, the Town put down two inches of gravel on the road, which did not hold up well, with residents complaining about the state of the road en masse.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Councillor Scott Morrison, who lives on that road, as well as Councillor Bob Stone, wanted to know how the new work might hold up.
