{"id":191736,"date":"2025-06-02T17:34:17","date_gmt":"2025-06-02T21:34:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/doppleronline.ca\/huntsville\/?p=191736"},"modified":"2025-06-02T17:34:19","modified_gmt":"2025-06-02T21:34:19","slug":"walk-for-alzheimers-raises-45000","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/doppleronline.ca\/huntsville\/walk-for-alzheimers-raises-45000\/","title":{"rendered":"Walk for Alzheimer\u2019s raises $45,000"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>On Sunday, May 25, more than 120 people gathered at Memorial Park in Bracebridge to take part in the 2025 IG Wealth Management Walk for Alzheimer\u2019s.<\/p>\n\n\n<div style=\"float: left; margin-right: 14px;\"><strong><broadstreet-zone zone-id=\"45658\" keywords=\"\" soft-keywords=\"true\" zone-alias=\"\"><\/broadstreet-zone><\/strong><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Together, they raised over $45,000 and counting, to support the Alzheimer Society of Muskoka and its local programs for people affected by Alzheimer\u2019s disease and other dementias in Muskoka and Parry Sound.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Following opening ceremonies led by Bracebridge Mayor Rick Maloney and ASM\u2019s Board President Rick Hallam, participants walked through downtown Bracebridge to remember and honour those whose lives have been touched by Alzheimer\u2019s disease and dementia in our community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Participants then enjoyed lunch provided by the Lion\u2019s Club, Domino\u2019s Pizza and other local sponsors. The event also included a variety of games, custom jewelry by Jibe and music from Country 102.3.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The day wrapped up with prizes and recognition of the hard work of volunteers and participants in creating a memorable event.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re so grateful to everyone who took part, whether by walking, donating, or simply showing up to support,\u201d said Norma Alford. \u201cThis walk is about building a compassionate, dementia-friendly future for all of us. The money raised here stays here, supporting people in our own communities.
