The Town of Huntsville’s bylaw enforcement department has issued several warnings regarding the illegal placement of election signs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In February, the Town of Huntsville joined the municipalities of Bracebridge and Gravenhurst in banning election signs on public property.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Town of Huntsville’s election sign bylaw<\/a> also specifies the size and how and where signs ought to be placed:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Manager of Building and Bylaw Services for the Town of Huntsville, Christopher Nagy, stated that the Town’s bylaw department has “notified constituent of the issue and as per section 4 of the bylaw have given them 24hrs to have the signs brought into conformance with the bylaw. All constituents have been responsive in this nature and signs have been relocated and therefore no signs have been retrieved by staff as of today and therefore no penalties have been drafted,” he stated via email. “Constituents have been notified that any future non-compliance with the bylaw, an Administrative Monetary Penalty as outlined in the bylaw will be issued for each sign in violation,” he added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Election sign tampering is also illegal and may result in criminal charges if the perpetrator or perpetrators are caught.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
