{"id":188764,"date":"2025-04-03T09:21:12","date_gmt":"2025-04-03T13:21:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/doppleronline.ca\/huntsville\/?p=188764"},"modified":"2025-04-03T09:24:15","modified_gmt":"2025-04-03T13:24:15","slug":"thousands-of-customers-still-without-power-in-the-region-on-april-3","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/doppleronline.ca\/huntsville\/thousands-of-customers-still-without-power-in-the-region-on-april-3\/","title":{"rendered":"Thousands of customers still without power in the region on April 3"},"content":{"rendered":"<div style=\"float: left; margin-right: 14px;\"><strong><broadstreet-zone zone-id=\"45658\" keywords=\"\" soft-keywords=\"true\" zone-alias=\"\"><\/broadstreet-zone><\/strong><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>There are still thousands of customers without power in our region, particularly in South Muskoka, affecting the townships of Muskoka Lakes and Lake of Bays, as well as the towns of Bracebridge and Gravenhurst.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;We are restoring power to 190,000 customers that remain without power and working with communities to support their needs,&#8221; according to Hydro One.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;Crews are out in full force working alongside our contractors and team members from 18 other Ontario utilities providing us with mutual assistance. High winds and freezing rain in parts of southwest and central Ontario caused additional outages, and crews continue to respond. Given the severity and widespread damage caused by this storm, we expect restoration in the hardest hit areas to continue throughout the week. For remote areas, restoration may take longer.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to Hydro One, which provides the main power feed to other utility companies, when an outage is reported, damage is assessed &#8220;and the main powerlines that serve a community are prioritized to bring power back to the greatest number of customers. Then the focus is on clearing damage from lines that serve smaller groups of customers to get the power back on. In some cases after power is restored, it can go out again if crews are repairing damage or clearing debris on powerlines that are connected or nearby to make sure they can do their work safely.
