{"id":187887,"date":"2025-03-17T17:10:42","date_gmt":"2025-03-17T21:10:42","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/doppleronline.ca\/huntsville\/?p=187887"},"modified":"2025-03-17T17:10:48","modified_gmt":"2025-03-17T21:10:48","slug":"district-scores-well-on-drinking-water-quality","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/doppleronline.ca\/huntsville\/district-scores-well-on-drinking-water-quality\/","title":{"rendered":"District scores well on drinking water quality\u00a0"},"content":{"rendered":"<div style=\"float: left; margin-right: 14px;\"><strong><broadstreet-zone zone-id=\"45658\" keywords=\"\" soft-keywords=\"true\" zone-alias=\"\"><\/broadstreet-zone><\/strong><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>A review of the District of Muskoka\u2019s drinking water quality has earned top marks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>District staff recently prepared the 2024 review of the area\u2019s drinking water quality management system for District council review.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In the wake of the Walkerton E-Coli outbreak, the Drinking Water Quality Management Standard was created in 2002. The system&nbsp;outlines a framework for planning, documenting, and continually improving the management systems in place to support the production and delivery of safe drinking water.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>District staff report that last year there were no incidents of regulatory non-conformance reported.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cDistrict water systems continue to achieve a 100% rating on the Chief Drinking Water Inspector\u2019s Report,\u201d says Michael Currie Director, Water and Wastewater Services, in the report. \u201cThe District continues to maintain the highest provincial drinking water standards and meet all operational performance requirements for its drinking water systems.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Ministry of the Environment Conservation and Parks also conducts annual inspections of all drinking water systems, and Currie says they anticipate that the Chief Drinking Water Inspector\u2019s Report, released each March, will reflect a 100% rating.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Work is underway to replace aged automated controllers and fuel systems for several drinking water plants across the District, says Currie.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Assessments have been completed on all District facilities, and upgrades were completed in 2024 at various water facilities, including the Bala, Huntsville, MacTier, Port Severn, and Port Carling drinking water systems.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n<h5 style=\"text-align: center;\">Don\u2019t miss out on Doppler!<\/h5>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>Sign up <a href=\"https:\/\/doppleronline.ca\/huntsville\/dont-miss-out-on-doppler\/\"><u>here<\/u><\/a> to receive our email digest with links to our most recent stories.<br \/>\nLocal news in your inbox so you don&#8217;t miss anything!<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a style=\"background: #5cb85c url('https:\/\/d1iczxrky3cnb2.cloudfront.net\/red_logo.png') no-repeat 37px; color: #fff; text-decoration: none; font-family: Verdana,sans-serif; display: inline-block; font-size: 16px; padding: 15px 38px; padding-left: 75px; -webkit-border-radius: 2px; -moz-border-radius: 2px; border-radius: 2px; box-shadow: 0 1px 0 0 #1f5a89; text-shadow: 0 1px rgba(0, 0, 0, 0.3);\" href=\"https:\/\/donorbox.org\/support-huntsville-doppler\">Click here to support local news<\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><broadstreet-zone zone-id=\"45657\" keywords=\"\" soft-keywords=\"true\" zone-alias=\"\"><\/broadstreet-zone>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A review of the District of Muskoka\u2019s drinking water quality has earned top marks.
