{"id":187428,"date":"2025-03-06T18:43:41","date_gmt":"2025-03-06T23:43:41","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/doppleronline.ca\/huntsville\/?p=187428"},"modified":"2025-03-06T18:43:44","modified_gmt":"2025-03-06T23:43:44","slug":"huntsville-development-charges-revenue-drops-by-19-in-2024","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/doppleronline.ca\/huntsville\/huntsville-development-charges-revenue-drops-by-19-in-2024\/","title":{"rendered":"Huntsville development charges revenue drops by 19% in 2024"},"content":{"rendered":"<div style=\"float: left; margin-right: 14px;\"><strong><broadstreet-zone zone-id=\"45658\" keywords=\"\" soft-keywords=\"true\" zone-alias=\"\"><\/broadstreet-zone><\/strong><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Between 2023 and 2024, revenue from development charges dropped by 19 per cent, according to a <a href=\"https:\/\/media-doppleronline-ca.s3-accelerate.amazonaws.com\/2025\/03\/2024-Treasurers-Statement-Development-Charges.pdf\">report submitted to Huntsville&#8217;s General Committee on February 26<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The report, authored by Julia McKenzie, Director of Financial Services\/Treasurer for the Town, indicates that in 2024, the municipality collected $754,313 in development charges compared to $931,273 in 2023.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>McKenzie also noted that at the end of 2024, there were $375,310 in development charge deferral agreements for which the municipality will collect interest, compared to $243,382 in 2023. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Development charges are usually collected when a building permit is issued for new development such as a house or a newly created lot.
