Both parties are pleased to have an agreement in place that will ensure it will be business as usual when students return to TLDSB schools in the fall.<\/p>\n<div style=\"float: left; margin-right: 14px;\"><strong> <broadstreet-zone zone-id=\"45658\" keywords=\"\" soft-keywords=\"true\" zone-alias=\"\"><\/broadstreet-zone><\/strong><\/div>\n<p>OSSTF District 15 president Colin Matthew applauded the foresight of those in senior management who facilitated the bargaining of a fair deal. Matthew stated, \u201cWe are pleased that our members can begin planning for the fall knowing that they have a new contract in place.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>A central agreement was reached between the provincial OSSTF and the government earlier this year. Under the new bargaining legislation, the School Boards\u2019 Collective Bargaining Act, a local agreement must also be negotiated on local conditions.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt is very encouraging to have come to an agreement with our secondary teachers before the end of this school year,\u201d stated TLDSB Board Chair Louise Clodd, \u201cWe\u2019re looking forward to working together on a smooth opening to the 2016-2017 school year.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>A tentative agreement was ratified by TLDSB at a special meeting of the board on Friday, June 24.
