Via social media, SRS Huntsville Committee members have shared information with the family about the home that is waiting for their arrival.  The family has expressed their tremendous gratitude to the people of Huntsville who are working hard to make sure they get here safely.  The family has sent us many photographs, voice messages and even a short video showing the family enjoying a meal at a refugee centre.<\/p>\n<div style=\"float: left; margin-right: 14px;\"><strong> <broadstreet-zone zone-id=\"45658\" keywords=\"\" soft-keywords=\"true\" zone-alias=\"\"><\/broadstreet-zone><\/strong><\/div>\n<p>The Committee has learned that school is not currently available to the children. The parents are eager to work on their English but there is no language training for them either. The father told us that thinking about the work our committee is doing, and the new house waiting for them, is keeping their spirits up. He said he is looking forward to applying his large animal vet tech skills in our community as soon as he can. And the children are looking forward to starting school again.<\/p>\n<p>As for the Committee\u2019s efforts, the house is fully furnished and ready to go. Dry goods have been put in place and a selection of clothing has been gathered. English language books and education materials are laid out ready for use. And over 70 volunteers are waiting to pitch in at a moment\u2019s notice. We have even planted a few tomatoes and other vegetables hoping the family will be here in time to enjoy the harvest.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_16554\" style=\"width: 717px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-16554\" class=\"size-full wp-image-16554\" src=\"https:\/\/media-doppleronline-ca.s3-accelerate.amazonaws.com\/2016\/06\/Syrian-family-at-the-beach.jpg\" alt=\"The Syrian children at the beach\" width=\"707\" height=\"530\" srcset=\"https:\/\/media-doppleronline-ca.s3-accelerate.amazonaws.com\/2016\/06\/Syrian-family-at-the-beach-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/media-doppleronline-ca.s3-accelerate.amazonaws.com\/2016\/06\/Syrian-family-at-the-beach.jpg 707w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 707px) 100vw, 707px\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-16554\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">The Syrian children at the beach<\/p><\/div>\n<p>SRS Huntsville\u2019s efforts were boosted greatly by the fundraiser held by Huntsville High School students in March. This month the students delivered a cheque with the final proceeds which totalled $4836. Thank you very much to everyone who made this significant contribution possible!<\/p>\n<p>Plans are in place to transport the family from the airport to Huntsville with very little notice. Now we are just waiting for the call to say they are on their way. The Committee is in regular communications with various government agencies and offices as we monitor the family\u2019s progress through the screening process.  We have been told the family is in the final stages and could come within a few weeks, or months at most.
