{"id":157876,"date":"2024-07-10T11:45:38","date_gmt":"2024-07-10T15:45:38","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/doppleronline.ca\/rwddev\/?p=157876"},"modified":"2024-07-10T11:47:08","modified_gmt":"2024-07-10T15:47:08","slug":"lake-of-bays-move-forward-with-contract-for-ev-charging-stations","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/doppleronline.ca\/huntsville\/lake-of-bays-move-forward-with-contract-for-ev-charging-stations\/","title":{"rendered":"Lake of Bays to move forward with contract for EV charging stations"},"content":{"rendered":"<div style=\"float: left; margin-right: 14px;\"><strong><broadstreet-zone zone-id=\"45658\" keywords=\"\" soft-keywords=\"true\" zone-alias=\"\"><\/broadstreet-zone><\/strong><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>At its July 9 meeting, Lake of Bays Council awarded Bracebridge Generation Ltd. a contract to install electric vehicle charging stations in the municipality. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Staff told council that the<a href=\"https:\/\/doppleronline.ca\/huntsville\/lake-of-bays-to-issue-a-request-for-proposals-for-ev-charging-stations\/\"> <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Request for Proposal process approved by council last February<\/span><\/a> had resulted in four submissions. Staff recommended Bracebridge Generation Ltd. (Lakeland EV Charing) because the company has existing access to the grid circuits in Muskoka and has been involved in creating EV infrastructure in the area since 2018.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Director of Planning Services, April Best-Sararas, explained that all stations will be metered separately with a dedicated service connection and not draw power from any existing site. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>She said the municipality would provide the land with no further financial obligations. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In her <a href=\"https:\/\/media-doppleronline-ca.s3-accelerate.amazonaws.com\/2024\/07\/0333F95A0372432FBB5DF7B9C83318DE-RFP-2024-005-%E2%80%93-Electric-Vehicle-Infrastructure-1.pdf\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">report to the council<\/span><\/a>, Sararas noted that Lakeland would handle customer service 24 hours per day, 365 days per year, for assistance via a telephone call or email. The company anticipates having the charging stations commissioned by the end of 2025.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to the Township\u2019s Superintendent of Public Works, Steve Piece, the company will also probably be responsible for snow removal at the sites.
