Huntsville is investing in road and sidewalk improvements with a full construction program that was pre-approved as part of the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.huntsville.ca\/en\/council-and-administration\/budget-and-finances.aspx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">2024 Budget<\/span><\/a>\u00a0process.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>What are Capital Projects?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Town undertakes asset management planning on an annual basis. This means that municipal infrastructure, like a road or bridge, is reviewed annually and scheduled for reconstruction at the end of its usable life cycle. Many factors affect an asset\u2019s need for rehabilitation, and sometimes this can be affected by emergency weather situations (e.g. damage from flooding).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>When an asset is up for reconstruction it is included for Council\u2019s review in the budget process. Capital projects can include road maintenance and resurfacing, full road reconstruction (road base, road surface, curb and gutters, storm sewers, catch basins), bridge maintenance or rehabilitation as well as reconstruction of a sidewalk, streetlight or major culvert replacement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>The Town\u2019s 2024 Capital Projects Program:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As part of the Town\u2019s Capital Project program, communication will be provided to residents and businesses in the immediate areas of construction by means of signage and flyers. Residents are encouraged to review the 2024 list of projects \u2013 a partial listing is included below:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Cora St.<\/strong>&nbsp;&#8211; Brunel Rd. to West St. \u2013 Road Reconstruction<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Minerva St. E<\/strong>. &#8211; Centre St. to West St. &#8211; Road Reconstruction<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>By-Lock Acres<\/strong>&nbsp;&#8211; West Browns to end \u2013 Road Resurfacing and Stormwater Works<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Gun Club Rd.<\/strong>&nbsp;&#8211; HLD Pit to Madill Church &#8211; Road Resurfacing and Stormwater Works<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Old North Rd. Bridge<\/strong>&nbsp;\u2013 Bridge Maintenance<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Williamsport Rd. Bridge<\/strong>&nbsp;\u2013 Bridge Maintenance<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Howland Dr<\/strong>. \u2013 Centre St. to Howland Dr. \u2013 Sidewalk Replacement<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Dara Howell Way<\/strong>&nbsp;\u2013 Streetlight Replacement<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Gun Club Rd<\/strong>. &#8211; Old Ferguson to HLD Pit \u2013 Road Resurfacing<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Lynx Lake Road<\/strong>&nbsp;\u2013 New surface to end &#8211; Road Resurfacing<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>East Waseosa Lake Rd.<\/strong>&nbsp;&#8211; North Waseosa to end &#8211; Road Resurfacing<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Ripple &amp; Pallet Lake Rd.&nbsp;<\/strong>&#8211; North Waseosa to end &#8211; Road Resurfacing<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>For a full listing of 2024 projects and timing of construction, residents are encouraged to visit\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.huntsville.ca\/Roads\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">huntsville.ca\/Roads<\/span><\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Capital Project Construction Timing:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Capital Project construction typically commences after the half-load season has ended in Huntsville. This can range in time due to the spring thaw.
