{"id":152379,"date":"2024-04-02T15:02:26","date_gmt":"2024-04-02T19:02:26","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/doppleronline.ca\/rwddev\/?p=152379"},"modified":"2024-04-04T10:56:43","modified_gmt":"2024-04-04T14:56:43","slug":"huntsville-councillors-to-vote-on-a-60000-signing-bonus-to-attract-doctors","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/doppleronline.ca\/huntsville\/huntsville-councillors-to-vote-on-a-60000-signing-bonus-to-attract-doctors\/","title":{"rendered":"Huntsville Councillors to vote on whether to implement a $60,000 signing bonus to attract doctors"},"content":{"rendered":"<div style=\"float: left; margin-right: 14px;\"><strong><broadstreet-zone zone-id=\"45658\" keywords=\"\" soft-keywords=\"true\" zone-alias=\"\"><\/broadstreet-zone><\/strong><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>At a special April 3, 2024 Huntsville Council meeting, councillors will vote on whether to offer family physicians who move their practice to Huntsville a $60,000 signing bonus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/doppleronline.ca\/huntsville\/huntsville-councillors-to-move-forward-with-doctor-retention-and-attraction-initiatives-in-light-of-the-growing-number-of-unattached-patients\/\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">On March 25, 2024<\/span><\/a>, Council directed Huntsville Councillors Bob Stone and Scott Morrison to work with staff to create an incentive program to attract family physicians to the community and report back to council for approval. However the incentive program is not yet in place and according to the motion going before council, &#8220;there are currently several physicians imminently exploring relocation options for their family practice, one location being the Town of Huntsville&#8230;&#8221; <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If the resolution is approved, it would allow the municipality to offer the $60,000 signing bonus to up to six physicians for the remainder of the 2022-2026 term of council.
