It\u2019s beneath our feet, in our towering cliffs, and we place it wherever beautiful features are needed.<\/p>\n<p>And when it\u2019s used to enhance a community project, it has even deeper meaning.<\/p>\n<p>That\u2019s why Jim Alexander, owner of Algonquin Natural Stone (ANS), recently donated stone to two local initiatives: the River Mill Park Rotary Bandshell and the patio at The Table Men\u2019s Shelter.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur whole team was delighted and proud to have our stone selected by the architect. We all felt that we should give back to our community to say thank you for the awesome first three-and-a-half years of our existence,\u201d said Jim. \u201cHowever, our contributions, valued at $20,000 for the Bandshell and $2,500 for the Men\u2019s Shelter, are minimal compared to the hours and money donated by Rotary members and those who help at The Table Soup Kitchen weekly to our community. A big THANK YOU to all of them. The project designer, Duncan Ross Architect, selected Algonquin Natural Stone\u2019s elite black granite with white highlights, particularly for its deep black colour and sparkle, to use for Rotary\u2019s engraved stone fundraising bricks on the back wall of the Bandshell. For the front fa\u00e7ade, ANS\u2019s grey stone \u2013 a lighter grey granite with salmon highlights \u2013 was used.<\/p>\n<p>At the Men\u2019s Shelter, smooth-sawn flag stone, deep black with salmon highlights, will welcome visitors to the building.<\/p>\n<p>Algonquin Natural Stone has grown rapidly since its 2013 opening and now employs 16 full-time staff year round and three part-time, buys stone from two local quarries and owns a third.
