{"id":150682,"date":"2024-02-28T17:09:32","date_gmt":"2024-02-28T22:09:32","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/doppleronline.ca\/rwddev\/?p=150682"},"modified":"2024-02-29T08:26:39","modified_gmt":"2024-02-29T13:26:39","slug":"councillors-ask-staff-to-look-at-atv-routes-in-response-to-petition","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/doppleronline.ca\/huntsville\/councillors-ask-staff-to-look-at-atv-routes-in-response-to-petition\/","title":{"rendered":"Councillors ask municipal staff to look at ATV routes in response to petition"},"content":{"rendered":"<div style=\"float: left; margin-right: 14px;\"><strong><broadstreet-zone zone-id=\"45658\" keywords=\"\" soft-keywords=\"true\" zone-alias=\"\"><\/broadstreet-zone><\/strong><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>At its February 28 General Committee meeting, Glenn Gilbert was before Huntsville councillors with a petition containing 255 signatures asking to be allowed to connect to ATV routes from one end of Huntsville to the other.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He said he&#8217;s been to the OPP and was informed that he can drive on District roads at half of the posted speed but was advised to approach Huntsville Council for routes in Huntsville.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Gilbert told councillors that he is 74 years old and he and his wife have a 2up and the like to ride the trails. &#8220;But we cannot access the trails on the other side of Huntsville to get to&#8230; Brunel,&#8221; explained Gilbert. He was suggesting a route going from Ravencscliffe to West Road, to Centre Street North, up to Veterans Way and onto Brunel, which is a District Road. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Councillor Monty Clouthier asked Gilbert if his suggested route was flexible. &#8220;It&#8217;s absolutely not written in stone,&#8221; said Gilbert noting that his only request is to be able to drive from Ravenscliffe to Brunel. &#8220;If there&#8217;s a better route or even further away from town, it doesn&#8217;t have to be through town, it&#8217;s just what I came up with but if there&#8217;s a better idea, let&#8217;s do it,&#8221; said Gilbert. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Deputy Mayor Dan Armour suggested a possible route from Ravenscliffe through to Howland Drive, across Hwy. 60 to Williamsport Road, noting that the route suggested goes across school zones and could prove to be treacherous. Gilbert said he&#8217;d be okay with that.
