{"id":147272,"date":"2023-12-04T13:41:34","date_gmt":"2023-12-04T18:41:34","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/doppleronline.ca\/rwddev\/?p=147272"},"modified":"2023-12-04T16:09:16","modified_gmt":"2023-12-04T21:09:16","slug":"project-porchlight-food-drive-takes-place-this-wednesday","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/doppleronline.ca\/huntsville\/project-porchlight-food-drive-takes-place-this-wednesday\/","title":{"rendered":"Project Porchlight Food Drive takes place this Wednesday"},"content":{"rendered":"<div style=\"float: left; margin-right: 14px;\"><strong><broadstreet-zone zone-id=\"45658\" keywords=\"\" soft-keywords=\"true\" zone-alias=\"\"><\/broadstreet-zone><\/strong><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>The 35th annual Project Porchlight Food Drive in support of the Salvation Army takes place this Wednesday, December 6 starting at 6 p.m.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Fire trucks, with the assistance of the OPP, EMS, Public Works, and Motorcyclists of Muskoka, will be going house-to-house in the municipalities of Huntsville and Lake of Bays to collect non-perishable food donations across the community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To participate, residents are asked to turn their porchlight on and place their non-perishable food donations at the end of their driveway or on their porch where they will be collected by first responders and volunteers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Project Porchlight Food Drive has been an integral seasonal community tradition in support of the Salvation Army, which distributes donated goods to the community throughout the year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cMany folks in Huntsville are feeling the impact of our current economy, and this is especially true during the holidays. This makes the 35th Annual Project Porchlight Food Drive more important than ever,\u201d notes Paul Calleja, Deputy Fire Chief for Huntsville\/Lake of Bays Fire Department. \u201cDonating non-perishable food items is a great way to help your neighbour in the true spirit of our tight-knit community and the holidays.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you won\u2019t be at home or would rather drop food donations off in-person, there will be bins placed outside the below fire station locations during the day for drop-offs.
