Anothony Court will receive a complete makeover both above and below ground as the Town of Huntsville partners with the District of Muskoka on the project. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

In March, Huntsville Civil Engineering Technician Brandon Hall reported to council that the “District of Muskoka is moving forward with the replacement of the Mountview Pumping Station. This requires upgrades to their infrastructure. They have provided the Town of Huntsville with a list of Municipally-owned roads that will be affected by this project,” and Anthony Court was one of them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to the District, multiple segments of infrastructure beneath the road “have been identified to have reached the end of their service life and are in need of replacement.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In March, Huntsville Council instructed staff to return with a full cost estimate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On June 21, 2023 District staff issued a tender for the joint project. The tender was posted on the District\u2019s website as well as Biddingo with a closing date of July 27, 2023. Just one bid was received from Fowler Construction for a total of $1,154,654.90 of which $211,706.00 will be the Town’s portion. The tender was approved by District Council and ultimately Huntsville Council at its September 7, 2023 meeting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The project scope will involve Anthony Court and an isolated section of Florence Street West for the purpose of service connection.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The project is expected to be completed in November. According to the District, periodic lane closures can be expected for residents of Anthony Court due to ongoing construction operations and traffic will be restricted to local access only. “Florence Street West will require one (1) short term full closure to accommodate the connection change to the existing infrastructure. A suitable detour will be established and signed prior to the work.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Design, contract administration and project oversight are being conducted by Tatham Engineering Ltd., the District\u2019s Consultant Engineer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to Town staff, the funds for the local portion of the Anthony Court project will be coming out of an approved budget of about $2 million for various ‘Urban Renewal Works’ projects but some of those, like the Yonge Street North and Cora Street projects, will be bumped to next year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Councillor Helena Renwick asked why the project had taken so long to come forward, Hall said due to design, tendering, and coordination processes with the District. He also said discussions have already begun on other projects. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
