Run organizers, Terry Fox Team members and council representatives gathered at Civic Square today to kick off Terry Fox Week.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The annual Terry Fox Run will take place on Sunday, September 17 starting at 9 a.m. at the Huntsville High School with registration taking place at 8 a.m. You can also register for the Huntsville run and donate online, HERE<\/span><\/a>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Terry Fox Team members are current cancer patients who are part of Terry\u2019s Team because they are in remission or are battling cancer at the moment. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Everyone has their own story but they all share the same connection to Terry and his dream of a world free of cancer,” explained organizer Sharon Stahls. <\/p>\n\n\n

Terry Team members are given a red T-shirt to wear on run day. Through the years, the sea of red shirts on Run Day has become a beacon of and a powerful reminder that cancer research impacts so many lives.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Red stands for courage and strength and that’s what all these people demonstrate,” said Sthals. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Terry has remained a source of inspiration for millions of Canadians, many of whom have continued to send in messages sharing their own personal connection.  This year the campaign is \u201cDear Terry\u201d and the foundation is inviting  Canadians to share how Terry\u2019s Legacy inspires you by completing and mailing in a postcard.  This year you can share your #Dear Terry message at the run or at terryfox.org<\/span><\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The youngest Terry Fox Team member at the kick-off was Eva Johnston, 10, who was Terry Fox Foundation School ambassador for the whole country last year. “I’ll be running this year… because I think it’s important to run or walk because it’s important to help kids like me and other people who are battling cancer. Because of our research we have more people that won’t be dying of cancer, more people will be in remission for cancer,” she said. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
