While education and enforcement continue to be paramount on all roadways, officers will be focusing on enforcement in school zones, as students and staff return to local schools.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Drivers are reminded that speeding in a school zone carries a fine which is double the regular set fines for speeding plus the victim surcharge.&nbsp;Please remember to stop for school buses when signal lights are activated.&nbsp;Failure to stop for a school bus while either meeting or by overtaking while lights are flashing carries a fine under the Highway Traffic Act of $490 including the Victim Surcharge.&nbsp;Please also obey the direction of crossing guards to ensure the safety of all students. Failure to obey the crossing stop sign carries a fine of $365 including the victim surcharge.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you have any information about crime in our community, please contact the OPP at 1-888-310-1122.
