On a sunny spring day, the inaugural Muskoka Maple Festival drew an estimated crowd of 3,000 to Huntsville\u2019s Main Street for a day of celebrating the maple sap harvest.<\/p>\n<div style=\"float: left; margin-right: 14px;\"><strong> <broadstreet-zone zone-id=\"45658\" keywords=\"\" soft-keywords=\"true\" zone-alias=\"\"><\/broadstreet-zone><\/strong><\/div>\n<p>\u201cIt was overwhelmingly successful,\u201d said Kelly Haywood, Executive Director of the Huntsville Lake of Bays Chamber of Commerce. \u201cAt 8:00, the streets filled with people and Rotary (Club of Huntsville) served 800 breakfasts &#8211; they knocked it out of the park.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe weather was on our side, but we also had a lot of great community support and a lot of great entertainment. (Photos: Jason Slater)<\/em><\/p>\n<p>She wouldn\u2019t have changed a thing, she said, and if she has anything to do with it, there will be another one next year. \u201cI think in Muskoka we really needed to have a maple festival. Next year we\u2019ll be better prepared for the crowds \u2013 I wouldn\u2019t change a lot but I can see it growing.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Among possibilities for next year are a beer tent \u2013 \u201cA number of people asked. They wanted to come out and celebrate.\u201d \u2013 and an expanded fiddling component.
