The Madill Church celebrated its 150th <\/sup>anniversary on the weekend of May 6th with a Family Fun Day that included music, a bbq, guest speakers, heritage skills displays, and children\u2019s activities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The event saw almost 300 visitors and guests participate in the celebration. <\/p>\n\n\n

<\/broadstreet-zone><\/strong><\/div>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe\u2019d like to send out a huge thank you to all the individuals and businesses that helped make this day so wonderful,” said Carolynn MacKay, President of the Madill Church Preservation Society (MCPS).\u201cYour continued support throughout the course of our journey is exceptional and appreciated.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cAll of us on the board of the MCPS are humbled by the encouragement we have received from the community and beyond,” she added. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mayor Nancy Alcock and past Executive Director of The Ontario Historical Society, Rob Leverty, referred to the 150-year-old square log building as a national and global treasure. Both expressed their thanks to the community for ensuring its restoration and preservation.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The 150th <\/sup>celebration saw people travelling from many parts of Ontario, and as far away as the United States, to join in the day\u2019s activities. A large gathering of Madill family descendants also used the day to host a family reunion.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Among those the MCPS would like to thank are: The Ontario Historical Society, Muskoka Heritage Place, Huntsville and Area Historical Society, Muskoka Dixie Band, Tina Turley, Arrowhead Provincial Park, and  Bullock\u2019s Your Independent Grocer.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe look forward to seeing everyone again when we have a post-restoration grand opening,\u201d added MacKay.<\/p>\n\n\n
