The Alzheimer Society of Muskoka’s Walk for Alzheimer’s is set to take place in Bracebridge on May 27, 2023, with the goal of raising $75,000 for those affected by Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias. <\/p>\n\n\n

<\/broadstreet-zone><\/strong><\/div>\n\n\n\n

This year’s Walk will be better than ever, combining an in-person celebration with a virtual option to support those affected by dementia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The event is more than just a walk; it is a day of fun, fitness, and fundraising, aiming for a world without dementia. In 2022, enthusiastic walkers raised over $60,000 to support families living in Muskoka and Parry Sound touched by this disease. This year’s walk is expected to be even more significant, as the need to support the growing number of those affected by dementia in Muskoka and Parry Sound is increasing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Notable participants in this year’s event include the Bracebridge Town Crier, Bruce Kruger, who will lead the beginning of the Walk, and Deputy Mayor of Bracebridge, Brenda Rhodes, who will be in attendance to show her support for the cause.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The event will take place at Memorial Park in Bracebridge, with a kick-off BBQ sponsored by the Lion’s Club of Bracebridge starting at 12:00 pm, followed by the official Walk starting at 1:00 pm. Invite your friends, family, neighbours, colleagues, and pets to form a team and join you in making an impact. Participants are encouraged to register ahead of time at www.AlzheimerMuskoka.ca<\/a>. Those who are unable to participate in person can still register online, and virtually walk on their own time. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Every cent raised through the Walk for Alzheimer’s will help to fund crucial programs and services in Muskoka and Parry Sound, such as information and support for those who have received a diagnosis of dementia, as well as for their families and caregivers,” says Interim Executive Director and First Link Care Navigator, Pamela Leeder.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

If the fundraising goal of $75,000 is met, Pam Leeder has agreed to dye her hair blue, a bold statement that shows the commitment of the Alzheimer Society of Muskoka to this important cause.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
