She was followed by her husband John \u201cJack\u201d van der Jagt the following day at South Muskoka Memorial Hospital at the age of 95. As the obituary reads, \u201cJack is ascending into heaven to continue the love affair.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Their grandson Daevyd Pepper described the couple as \u201centrepreneurs, community builders, and loving grandparents and parents.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThey were generous, accepting, and always kept busy,\u201d said Pepper via social media. \u201cWherever they landed, they started a bridge club or some way of bringing people together. They loved caring for people and creating spaces for people to connect.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Pepper said their relationship ended as beautifully as one would\u2019ve expected of a couple who spent almost three-quarters of a century together.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cAfter my Granny passed on peacefully, Grampa said, \u201c\u2018Goodnight, Gran; I\u2019ll see you in the morning,\u2019 says Pepper. \u201cHe stayed true to his word.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to the obituary, Jack was the family patriarch and a fierce protector of everyone he loved, right to his last breath.\u00a0 He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather to three sons and a daughter.
