{"id":131537,"date":"2023-02-06T15:41:00","date_gmt":"2023-02-06T20:41:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/doppleronline.ca\/rwddev\/?p=131537"},"modified":"2023-02-07T09:44:15","modified_gmt":"2023-02-07T14:44:15","slug":"business-fined-more-than-7500-for-contravening-ontario-fire-code","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/doppleronline.ca\/huntsville\/business-fined-more-than-7500-for-contravening-ontario-fire-code\/","title":{"rendered":"Business fined more than $7,500 for contravening Ontario Fire Code"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>On Wednesday, February 1, 2023, the Justice of the Peace Maryan Hudswell of the Bracebridge Provincial Offences Court, found the owner of a local restaurant guilty on two counts of contraventions of the Ontario Fire Code. <\/p>\n\n\n<div style=\"float: left; margin-right: 14px;\"><strong><broadstreet-zone zone-id=\"45658\" keywords=\"\" soft-keywords=\"true\" zone-alias=\"\"><\/broadstreet-zone><\/strong><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>The Owner of The Heart of Muskoka Fries was fined $7,500, plus victim surcharges, for failing to maintain the commercial kitchen suppression system and $1,000 for failing to maintain the portable fire extinguishers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Charges were filed by the Huntsville\/Lake of Bays Fire Department following an inspection of the property in October 2021 after a fire had occurred. Several serious contraventions of the Ontario Fire Code were observed during the inspection and Orders were issued for several deficiencies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Huntsville\/Lake of Bays Fire Department continues to work to reduce community risk through fire prevention and enforcement strategies.
