{"id":125270,"date":"2022-11-08T09:18:54","date_gmt":"2022-11-08T14:18:54","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/doppleronline.ca\/rwddev\/?p=125270"},"modified":"2022-11-10T09:45:19","modified_gmt":"2022-11-10T14:45:19","slug":"lake-of-bays-dispute-results-in-charges","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/doppleronline.ca\/huntsville\/lake-of-bays-dispute-results-in-charges\/","title":{"rendered":"Lake of Bays dispute results in charges"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Officers from the Huntsville Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police have charged a male as a result of a dispute.<\/p>\n\n\n<div style=\"float: left; margin-right: 14px;\"><strong><broadstreet-zone zone-id=\"45658\" keywords=\"\" soft-keywords=\"true\" zone-alias=\"\"><\/broadstreet-zone><\/strong><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>On November 07, 2022, at approximately 3:53 a.m. members of the Huntsville Detachment responded to a report of a dispute occurring at a residence located on Elder Drive, Township of Lake of Bays in which gunshots were reportedly heard.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Yesterday morning a heavy police presence was on location at Elder Drive. The OPP resources were local Huntsville Detachment officers, Huntsville Detachment Crime Unit, Central Region OPP Caine, Central Region OPP Emergency Response Team, and OPP Tactics and Rescue Unit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Following the initial police investigation at approximately 8:40 a.m. on November 07, 2022, Justin CARRIER-COPAN (23 years of age) of Lake of Bays Township was taken into police custody and charged with the following:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8211;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Did without lawful excuse, point a firearm contrary to section 87 of the Criminal Code.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8211;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Assault with a weapon contrary to section 267(a) of the Criminal Code.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8211;\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Did possess a firearm without being the holder of a licence under which he may possess it contrary to section 91(1) of the Criminal Cade.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8211;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Did use a firearm in a careless manner contrary to section 86(1) of the Criminal Code.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8211;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Did have in his possession a weapon for a dangerous purpose to the public peace contrary to section 88 of the Criminal Code. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As a result of the dispute, one person suffered minor injuries which were treated by Muskoka Paramedic Services at the scene.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Justin CARRIER-COPAN is being held in custody and scheduled to appear on November 09, 2022, in the Ontario Court of Justice, Muskoka.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Police have cleared the scene as of last night, however, the investigation into this is ongoing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you have information about this, please contact the Huntsville OPP Detachment at 705-789-5551 or the Provincial Communication Centre at 888-310-1122.
