Going off in a bit of a new direction this time, the choir is presenting a concert of a more sacred nature.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAn Easter Celebration\u201d will take place at 7:00 pm on Tuesday, March 22 at St. Andrews Presbyterian Church, Huntsville. The concert will revolve around the theme of Easter providing a variety of music from Bach to Rock!<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPersonally, I believe that this concert has offered the most challenge the choir has had to meet in many years,\u201d says John Riedl, President of the HCC. \u201cWe have worked hard to learn some very difficult pieces, including Bach\u2019s &#8220;Crucifixus&#8221; and Mozart\u2019s &#8220;Ave Verum Corpus&#8221;.\u201d<\/p>\n<div style=\"float: left; margin-right: 14px;\"><strong> <broadstreet-zone zone-id=\"45658\" keywords=\"\" soft-keywords=\"true\" zone-alias=\"\"><\/broadstreet-zone><\/strong><\/div>\n<p>While this concert contains  classical elements it will also be offset by a variety of other music from gospel to modern, with such titles as &#8220;The Storm is Passing Over&#8221; and &#8220;You are the New Day&#8221; to mention a few.<\/p>\n<p>Music Director, Jillian McDougall, came to the Executive in August of last year with an exciting idea of featuring the work of local composer and musician Suzanne Rutherford who had recently written a full stage production of her work titled <em>Pilgrim&#8217;s Progress<\/em>. The choir is pleased to be presenting portions of Part 1 of this exciting work in the second half of their program. Suzanne is a highly regarded composer and pianist and has been residing in the Huntsville area for several years. The choir will be bringing in outside help for the performance and are pleased to welcome the return of a couple of its previous scholarship winners, Ryan Burda and James Bacon, who will both be singing solo parts.  As well as several soloists, the choir is also pleased to welcome Neil Barlow on trumpet and Bryan Henkelman on bass.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe can\u2019t wait to bring this to our audience,\u201d says Riedl. \u201cWe know they will enjoy it as much as we do. There will be other surprises as well. We hope everyone will come out and enjoy Suzanne\u2019s artistry as well as the local talent this community provides.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Tickets for this one-time event are $20.00 each (children under 12 are free) and can be purchased at Treasures and Trophies, from choir members, or at the door.
