{"id":118611,"date":"2022-08-22T08:58:05","date_gmt":"2022-08-22T12:58:05","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/huntsville.dopperonline.ca\/?p=118611"},"modified":"2022-08-22T08:58:05","modified_gmt":"2022-08-22T12:58:05","slug":"muskoka-united-coach-dave-caplan-says-hes-proud-of-his-teams-accomplishments","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/doppleronline.ca\/huntsville\/muskoka-united-coach-dave-caplan-says-hes-proud-of-his-teams-accomplishments\/","title":{"rendered":"Muskoka United coach Dave Caplan says he&#8217;s proud of his team&#8217;s accomplishments"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There is something special on the pitch this year for Muskoka United Football Club (MUFC).&nbsp; <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>MUFC or \u201cUnited\u201d as it\u2019s known, is the combined efforts of the Bracebridge and Huntsville Soccer Club&#8217;s competitive teams.&nbsp; The Club offers competitive soccer for players in the region from U13+ with Boys and Girls teams.&nbsp; This year, the oldest age division is MUFC\u2019s U16 team competing in the Huronia District Soccer League\u2019s U16 Boys division.&nbsp; What makes this team special is that it is not only a combination of Huntsville and Bracebridge players, but it is also coed.<\/p>\n\n\n<div style=\"float: left; margin-right: 14px;\"><strong><broadstreet-zone zone-id=\"45658\" keywords=\"\" soft-keywords=\"true\" zone-alias=\"\"><\/broadstreet-zone><\/strong><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Head Coach Dave Caplan runs the coed team with his Assistant Andrew Paterson and Team Manager Chris Allen.&nbsp; Coach Dave has been coaching some of the players for over 7 years and notes he is especially proud of the team.&nbsp; \u201cThese players have come a long way in their development and this year they\u2019ve really come into their own.&nbsp;They are playing attractive soccer and competing in every game.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The team is competing against all boys\u2019 teams from very strong centers such as North Bay, Orillia, and Sudbury.&nbsp; Currently, they are 4th in their division with three games remaining in the season.&nbsp; Their offense is led by central midfielder Zachary Caplan who has 19 goals in 9 games and is currently 2nd on the goal-scoring leaders&#8217; list.&nbsp; Originally the team\u2019s striker, Zach was converted to play as a box-to-box midfielder to help find balance for the team\u2019s shape.&nbsp; Coach Dave notes this has had a dramatic impact on how the team transitions between attack and defense.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"682\" src=\"https:\/\/media-doppleronline-ca.s3-accelerate.amazonaws.com\/2022\/08\/Team-photo-1024x682.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-118621\" srcset=\"https:\/\/media-doppleronline-ca.s3-accelerate.amazonaws.com\/2022\/08\/Team-photo-300x200.png 300w, https:\/\/media-doppleronline-ca.s3-accelerate.amazonaws.com\/2022\/08\/Team-photo-1024x682.png 1024w, https:\/\/media-doppleronline-ca.s3-accelerate.amazonaws.com\/2022\/08\/Team-photo-768x512.png 768w, https:\/\/media-doppleronline-ca.s3-accelerate.amazonaws.com\/2022\/08\/Team-photo-750x500.png 750w, https:\/\/media-doppleronline-ca.s3-accelerate.amazonaws.com\/2022\/08\/Team-photo-630x420.png 630w, https:\/\/media-doppleronline-ca.s3-accelerate.amazonaws.com\/2022\/08\/Team-photo.png 1088w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><figcaption>Team photo &#8211; sponsored by Hutcheson, Reynolds &amp; Caswell Ltd. Insurance Brokers<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n<p>Team Captain Isabelle Lefebvre leads the attack and is often flanked by fellow strikers, Andrew Walisser, Ebrahim Tatarshaow and Franziska F\u00fcth.&nbsp; They are the focal point of the team\u2019s attack and their hard work up front has allowed the team\u2019s midfielders Finlay Paterson, Elsie Moore, Rowan Simpson, Ava Hayes, Jacob Oliver, and Noah Bell to flourish and contribute by scoring many important goals.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-large is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/media-doppleronline-ca.s3-accelerate.amazonaws.com\/2022\/08\/1348-1024x705.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-118616\" width=\"847\" height=\"583\" srcset=\"https:\/\/media-doppleronline-ca.s3-accelerate.amazonaws.com\/2022\/08\/1348-300x207.png 300w, https:\/\/media-doppleronline-ca.s3-accelerate.amazonaws.com\/2022\/08\/1348-1024x705.png 1024w, https:\/\/media-doppleronline-ca.s3-accelerate.amazonaws.com\/2022\/08\/1348-768x529.png 768w, https:\/\/media-doppleronline-ca.s3-accelerate.amazonaws.com\/2022\/08\/1348-750x517.png 750w, https:\/\/media-doppleronline-ca.s3-accelerate.amazonaws.com\/2022\/08\/1348-630x434.png 630w, https:\/\/media-doppleronline-ca.s3-accelerate.amazonaws.com\/2022\/08\/1348.png 1099w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 847px) 100vw, 847px\" \/><figcaption>Right back Kiela McPherson throws the ball to teammate Finlay Paterson<br><\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n<p>To back up the offense, stellar play in the defensive end has come through Riley Smith and Maeve Young\u2019s pairing as the center backs.&nbsp; They are flanked by Abby Allen and Kiela McPherson, both of whom are tough, nonsense left and right back defenders.&nbsp; Holden Vuksan is the team\u2019s goalkeeper and is the only keeper in the league with 2 shutouts in the season.&nbsp; Holden\u2019s quick feet, strong hands, and lightning-fast dives have kept the team in games at important moments.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI&#8217;ve watched them in every game, I&#8217;ve seen how hard they work at practices. They\u2019ve gelled as a team, and I&#8217;ve seen them fight back from several goal deficits to win games.
