{"id":116554,"date":"2022-07-13T12:18:46","date_gmt":"2022-07-13T16:18:46","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/huntsville.dopperonline.ca\/?p=116554"},"modified":"2022-07-13T18:48:37","modified_gmt":"2022-07-13T22:48:37","slug":"kent-park-redesign-has-been-completed","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/doppleronline.ca\/huntsville\/kent-park-redesign-has-been-completed\/","title":{"rendered":"Kent Park redesign has been completed"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Tarmo Uukkivi, director of operations and protective services for the Town of Huntsville, told council&#8217;s general committee on June 29 that the contractor has completed work at Kent Park.  <\/p>\n\n\n<div style=\"float: left; margin-right: 14px;\"><strong><broadstreet-zone zone-id=\"45658\" keywords=\"\" soft-keywords=\"true\" zone-alias=\"\"><\/broadstreet-zone><\/strong><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>He said Arenes Construction completed the work on May 30, 2022 and the remaining work will now rest with the Town&#8217;s Parks Department.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;Remaining Kent Park work includes the installation of park benches, additional &#8220;Muskoka Chairs,&#8221; as well as planting and placement of additional flowers and greenery, e.g., hanging baskets. Town Parks staff have been working diligently and, as at the date of this report (June 29, 2022), most of the work is complete,&#8221; he stated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He noted that Arenes Construction has since moved on from the Kent Park project and laid the base for the pickleball courts at McCulley Robertson Recreation Park. On June 29, Uukkivi indicated that the company had also started work in Port Sydney to create new pickle ball courts. &#8220;Arenes will be moving back and<br>forth between locations through the remaining stages of work,&#8221; he stated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p> The council approved design consideration for the McCulley courts involve &#8220;removing only as many trees and other greenery as necessary to create the space necessary to build the Pickle Ball courts.&#8221; Uukkivi also added in his report that the company had to make some adjustments to the work due to the soil conditions that were found as work began. He said the contractor has been consulting with Town staff as work progresses. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The  Port Sydney work and design is being created based on the existing court structure. &#8220;Trees and brush were cut and removed over the past year in preparation of the work. The removal of this greenery was necessary to increase airflow and increase exposure to the sun. The air and sun are necessary to help the courts dry rapidly.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The McCulley Robertson pickleball courts are expected to be completed this month. The Clarke Crescent multi-use courts in Port Sydney are expected to be completed this August. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;Completion dates are tentative only as weather and site conditions could impact the work,&#8221; he explained. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>UPDATE: In 2020 council approved an amended Kent Park design at an estimated cost of $400,000, down from $500,000.
