Donaldson was presented with the award in recognition of his contributions to the community after the age of 65.<\/p>\n\n\n<div style=\"float: left; margin-right: 14px;\"><strong><broadstreet-zone zone-id=\"45658\" keywords=\"\" soft-keywords=\"true\" zone-alias=\"\"><\/broadstreet-zone><\/strong><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Councillor Bob Lacroix thanked Donaldson for donating his time and skills to make the community a better place. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Council heard that Donaldson was born in Montreal. He attended the GE University of Management in New York and later moved to Toronto where he worked for General Electric. In 2000, the company was bought by Westburn Alberta Electrical Whole Sale Division, and Donaldson moved to Alberta. In 2005 he became Westburn Alberta Electrical&#8217;s vice president.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In 2011 Donaldson retired and moved to Lake of Bays. He became involved with the Baysville Winter Pantry in 2012 and stayed with the group until 2020.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He was Chair of the Antique Boat and Classic Boat Show which was formed in 2015 to raise funds for the Baysville Food Pantry. The show has had a hiatus due to COVID-19 and organizers are hoping to host the show once more in 2023.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Donaldson also joined the Baysville Curling Club in 2012 and was on the board from 2013 to 2016. He also became the treasurer of the Baysville Riverfront Group in 2012, a volunteer position he still holds today.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Donalson is also an active member of the Baysville Arts and Crafts show and joined its board in 2012. He was also chair of the Library Board from 2017 to 2020.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;He&#8217;s a wonderful example of a volunteer that&#8217;s very active and this is essential to keeping Lake of Bays vital and exciting.
