If partner opened 1NT and your RHO bid Two Diamonds when you wanted to transfer to your five-card Heart suit, what do you do? You double the opponent\u2019s bid because the opponent had stolen the Two Diamond bid. You needed that bid to show opening 1NT partner your Heart suit.<\/p>\n\n\n<div style=\"float: left; margin-right: 14px;\"><strong><broadstreet-zone zone-id=\"45658\" keywords=\"\" soft-keywords=\"true\" zone-alias=\"\"><\/broadstreet-zone><\/strong><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>This week we have examples of your responding hands to partner\u2019s 1NT opening. You consider which response to use following a stolen bid. You and your partner have an agreement to double stolen bids.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"E237\"><strong>Case 1:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"E239\">Spades AQxxx<br>Hearts KJ<br>Diamonds xxx<br>Clubs xxx<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"E261\">Case 1: Partner opens 1NT. You intend to transfer to Spades with a transfer bid of Two Hearts but RHO steals your bid. So, you double. You are telling partner that Two Hearts was a stolen bid. Partner will then complete the transfer: Two Spades.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"E282\"><strong>Case 2:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"E284\">Spades xxx<br>Hearts AQxx<br>Diamonds KJxx<br>Clubs xx<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"E310\">Case 2: Partner opens 1NT. You intend to bid Two Clubs Stayman showing a four-card major suit. However, RHO steals your bid. You double. Partner now knows you have at least one four-card major. Partner bids his four-card major if he has one. Otherwise partner bids Two Diamonds to show he has no four-card major.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"E328\"><strong>Case 3:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"E330\">Spades K<br>Hearts Kxx<br>Diamonds AQxxxx<br>Clubs xxx<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"E354\">Case 3: Partner opens 1NT. Your hand is game going. You plan to respond Two Spades as a transfer to the minors. RHO steals your bid. What do you do now? You double telling 1NT partner that your transfer bid was stolen. Partner now knows to bid Three Clubs and you correct to Three Diamonds.
