{"id":111686,"date":"2022-04-08T09:12:42","date_gmt":"2022-04-08T13:12:42","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/huntsville.dopperonline.ca\/?p=111686"},"modified":"2023-02-27T21:47:36","modified_gmt":"2023-02-28T02:47:36","slug":"huntsville-man-admits-to-burning-down-landlords-house","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/doppleronline.ca\/huntsville\/huntsville-man-admits-to-burning-down-landlords-house\/","title":{"rendered":"Huntsville man admits to burning down landlord\u2019s house"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Appearing virtually from a correctional facility on Tuesday, a Huntsville man pleaded guilty to burning down a home in which he was a former tenant.<\/p>\n\n\n<div style=\"float: left; margin-right: 14px;\"><strong><broadstreet-zone zone-id=\"45658\" keywords=\"\" soft-keywords=\"true\" zone-alias=\"\"><\/broadstreet-zone><\/strong><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>In Bracebridge ciminal court, Brandon Righetti, 29, pleaded guilty to arson and was sentenced to time served, which amounted to pre-sentence custody of 483 days.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Court heard that on April 30, 2019, the OPP received a call from the Huntsville Fire Department regarding a structure fire in Huntsville. On that day, Righetti and another man were both residing in the house when Righetti burst into the other occupant\u2019s room saying that he smelled gas and they should both leave the house immediately. The men quickly gathered their belongings, court heard, and the second occupant later said he had seen a jerry can of gas on the back porch. Righetti then flicked a lit cigarette back into the house which quickly, \u201cwent up in flames in an explosive style.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Court heard that Righetti had been living in the home as a tenant but had been told by the landlord he needed to find a new residence.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It was determined by the Fire Marshal\u2019s Office that gasoline had been used in the fire, and it could be considered arson.
