{"id":111506,"date":"2022-04-04T08:41:47","date_gmt":"2022-04-04T12:41:47","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/huntsville.dopperonline.ca\/?p=111506"},"modified":"2022-04-04T08:41:48","modified_gmt":"2022-04-04T12:41:48","slug":"province-proposes-six-month-fuel-tax-cut","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/doppleronline.ca\/huntsville\/province-proposes-six-month-fuel-tax-cut\/","title":{"rendered":"Province proposes six-month fuel tax cut"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Ontario government announced today that it is introducing legislation that would, if passed, cut the gas tax by 5.7 cents per litre and the fuel tax by 5.3 cents per litre for six months beginning July 1, 2022.<\/p>\n\n\n<div style=\"float: left; margin-right: 14px;\"><strong><broadstreet-zone zone-id=\"45658\" keywords=\"\" soft-keywords=\"true\" zone-alias=\"\"><\/broadstreet-zone><\/strong><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cOngoing supply chain challenges and geopolitical conflicts are pushing up the cost of living from gas to groceries,\u201d said Minister of Finance Peter Bethlenfalvy in a media release. \u201cWith these added pressures, families and businesses need extra help to keep costs low. That is why our government is bringing forward legislation to provide tax relief at the pumps and put money back into people\u2019s pockets.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Effective July 1 until December 31, 2022, the gas tax rate would be cut from 14.7 cents per litre to nine cents per litre, representing a cut of 5.7 cents per litre.
